Hi there. My name is Meredith Crawford, and I am a new Pre-k teacher at Cross Roads. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be involved with each and every one of the children and their families as they progress through their preschool years. I feel it is very important to have open communication with the children I have in my classroom as well as their parents, to make sure that the child's needs are met as completely as possible. In addition to learning about all the children I would like everyone to know about my background and my education and experience.
My maiden name is Meredith Jeanene Moyers, and i grew up on a quiet country road in Grant County, WV. My father and mother are John and Erma Moyers, and i have a younger brother named John. My mother works for the board of education in Grant County and my father is the physical education teacher at Petersburg HS. My father was also the wrestling coach for many years. In addition to teaching, dad is also a pastor of two churches. My brother John graduated from WVU and is currently the assistant principal at John Adams Middle School. My husband is Dennis Crawford. We were married in 2003. He is employed through the Veteran's Administration in Huntington. We aren't blessed enough to have children of our own yet, so until then, we care for our beagle, Puddles.
I attended Petersburg High School, where i played volleyball and helped manage the wrestling team. I graduated in 1997 from Petersburg High, and attended WVU in the fall of the same year. I graduated from WVU with a degree in early childhood education. After WVU, I moved to Huntington, after which I was employed at a daycare center as a childcare worker. After working there for about a year and a half, I left to work at Prestera Center. While at Prestera, I was a case manager and a critical care specialist, working with children and their families both in the home and in an office setting. I then took the role of school-based case manager, in which I worked in the schools of Peyton Elementary, Guyandotte Elementary, and Central City Elementary. As a case manager, I worked closely with therapists, doctors, teachers, and parents during my time at Prestera, helping to improve the well being of children in the school setting. I worked at Prestera for 5 plus years, at which time i left to take the position here at Cross Roads.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I hope that it gives you a little insight as to where I came from, as well as my education and experiences. I want you to know that I will do everything possible to make the children in my class have a safe and enjoyable learning experience, and I believe working together as parents, administrators, and teachers alike will only strengthen our ability to do so.
